Jeff Cornell is a veteran media professional who has covered the music and entertainment industry for over 20 years. He is currently writing for various publication including Variety, Billboard, Radio.com, The Hollywood Reporter and Loudwire.com.
During his 16 years at the MTV Radio Network, he helped create the company website, handled all staffing and event coverage and coordination and wrote music news stories in many musical formats (CHR/Pop, Hip-Hop, Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Country, Hot AC) as well as entertainment news including feature films and television. Jeff has covered many Hollywood award shows like the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critic’s Choice Awards and high-profile music events including the GRAMMYS, American Music Awards, Billboard Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Jeff has interviewed some of Hollywood’s’ biggest stars and musical artists including George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Jessica Alba, Dave Grohl, Ray Manzarek, Robbie Krieger and John Densmore of The Doors, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Yes, Fleetwood Mac, Rush, Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Madonna and many, many more.
Music has always been a passion for Jeff, who grew up watching his father play bass in local bands in bars and nightclubs in Southern New Jersey. He learned an appreciation of music early on in his musical household and began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Jeff flourished as a musician and played guitar and bass in a few different bands throughout high school and college.
After graduating from Stockton University with a degree in communications and a few years of college radio under his belt, Jeff moved to New York City to work with MTV. He spent six years in the Big Apple and moved to Los Angeles to launch the West Coast office of the MTV Radio Network. Over the course of ten years there he dove deep into the music and entertainment industry and thrived as a staff manger, writer, radio producer and interviewer.
Jeff lives in Santa Monica, California with his wife and two young children. He spends his downtime playing guitar, bass, drums and keyboards and writing about music, entertainment, sports and travel.
Jeff’s writing has also been featured in Risen Magazine and on MTV.com. He also wrote the liner notes to the 2005 reissue of Nickelback’s breakthrough album Silver Side Up for Roadrunner Records.
